NOMINATE ORGANIZATIONS FOR OUR 2017 HUMAN SERVICES GRANT AWARDS A benefit of your membership level is the opportunity to get involved in the Human Services Grant Awards selection process, which is central to Women United’s mission of maximizing women’s leadership in philanthropy by engaging and educating the membership, increasing charitable contributions, and strengthening our community through the impact of collective giving to support human services. The Grant Committee will soon begin the process that leads to the selection of Women United’s 2017 Human Services Award recipient(s). Please send to us the names of any non-profit organizations or one of their specific programs or projects that you recommend for consideration by the Committee. Please include the name, e-mail address, and telephone number of the organization’s contact person with your nomination. As you consider organizations/programs to nominate, please keep in mind that the organization you nominate must be a 501(c)3, and the organization or program should serve women and/or children in the localities of Planning District 10 (the City of Charlottesville and the Counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, and Nelson). Organizations that received Women United Human Services Grant Awards in the past two years are not eligible for consideration. For the 2017 grant cycle, these ineligible organizations are: Albemarle Housing Improvement Program, Piedmont Housing Alliance, City of Promise, Foothills Child Advocacy Center, and Charlottesville Works Initiative. Grant Commitee service is an excellent way to actively support Women United’s mission of maximizing women’s leadership in philanthropy by: • Educating the membership about non-profit organizations serving our community The three 2017 Grant Committee meetings will take place at the Hantzmon Wiebel offices in downtown Charlottesville. As you consider committee participation, please be aware that attendance is critical to our ability to make effective use of our meeting time.
